जॉर्ज कार्लीन - अधिभौतीकवाद, राष्ट्रीय गर्व, व्यंजना, गर्भपात.

जॉर्ज कार्लीन हे अमेरिकन स्टेन्डअप कोमेडीअन, लेखक व नट होते. न्यूयॉर्क टाइम्स, बीबीसी आणि आंतरजाल चित्रपट माहितीकोश (IMDB) येथे त्यांचा उल्लेख शतकातील सर्वोत्कृष्ट कोमेडीअन असा केलेला आढळतो.१९५६ ते २००८ पर्यंत तब्बल चोपन्न वर्षांच्या कारकिर्दीत ते त्यांच्या स्फोटक व विवादात्मक विधानांसाठी नेहमी चर्चेत असायचे. विविध संवेदनशील विषयांवर कार्लीन यांनी केलेले वक्तव्य हे जितके विनोदी होते तितकेच ते विचार करायला लावणारे आणि स्फोटक होते. इंग्रजी भाषेवरचे प्रभुत्व व मानवी स्वभावाचे अत्यंत बारकाईने केलेले निरीक्षण हे त्यांचा प्रत्येक कृतीमध्ये प्रखरपणे दिसायचे. मिपाकरांना कार्लीन माहिती असतील, परंतु जास्तीत जास्त मिपाकारांपर्यंत हे व्यक्तिमत्व पोहोचावे म्हणून हि खटपट. त्यांच्या तूनळीवर (या शब्दाचा शोध लावणाऱ्या महाशयांना दंडवत) उपलब्ध असलेल्या चित्रफितींचे काही दुवे व संदर्भ खाली दिले आहेत. कार्लीन हे काही तत्ववेते नव्हते त्यामुळे त्यांची विधाने हि शंभर टक्के तार्किक असतीलच असे नाही तसेच बऱ्याच लोकांना ते 'foul mouthed' व अश्लील बोलणारे वाटायचे, या दोन गोष्टींकडे थोडेसे दुर्लक्ष करून जर पाहिलेत तर नक्कीच विचार करायला लावणारे मुद्दे सापडतील.
