तेज (Discussion on characteristics, properties and classification of fire/energy)

(प्रशस्तपादभाष्याच्या ४थ्या धड्यातील तेज किंवा अग्रि पदार्थांच गुणधर्म, प्रकार, वागण्याच्या तऱ्हा व उपयोग या संबंधीची माहिती या धड‌यात आहे. हे श्लोक ३ऱ्या - ४थ्या शतकातले असून तेव्हाची भारतीयांमध्ये वापरात असलेली तेज-अग्नि-प्रकाश अभ्यासाची पद्धत दर्शवतात. काही गोष्टी किंवा संकल्पना पटणारही नाहीत पण त्यासाठी पूर्णच अभ्यासाची पद्धत नाकारू नये. जे जे प्रत्ययास येईल तेवढेच मानावे. असो).

४.३: ३८तेजस्त्वाभिसम्बन्धात्तेजः ।
Fire is that which belongs to the class ‘fire’.
तेज या गटात अग्नि इत्यादि सर्व अग्निसमान वस्तूंचा समावेश होतो.

रूपस्पर्शसङ्ख्यापरिमाणपृथक्त्वसम्योगविभागपरत्वापरत्वद्रवत्वसंस्कारवत् ।
It is endowed with – colour, temperature, number, unit of measure, separateness, conjunction, disjunction, distance, proximity, fluidity and the ability to apply force.
तेजाला रंग, तापमान, संख्या, परिमाण, वेगळेपणा, जोडलेपणा(येउन जुळणे), विभक्तपणा(लांब जाणे), अंतर, जवळीक(सान्निध्यात राहणे), वहनक्षमता आणि बळ लावण्याची क्षमता या सर्व आहेत.

४.३: ३९पूर्ववदेषाम्सिद्धिः ।
The fact of these properties belonging to the class ‘fire’ is to be shown, as before, to be indicated in the sutras.
हे गुणधर्म आधील प्रमाणेच वैशेषिक सूत्रांमध्येही सांगितलेले आहेत.

वैशेषिकसूत्र -
शरीरम् इंद्रियं रूपस्पर्शवत् |(२|१|३)
The substance that has white colour and hot temperature is the substance belonging to the class ‘Fire’.
तेजाचे शरीर हे पांढरे असून ते नेहमीच गरम वा उष्ण असते.
संख्या: परिमाणानि(४|१|११)
This substance also has properties such as number and unit of measure and other common properties between all materials.
तेजाला इतर द्रव्यांप्रमाणेच संख्या व परिमाण हे दोन्ही गुण व त्याशिवाय अन्य गुण असतात.

४.३: ३९तत्रशुक्लम्भास्वरम्चरूपम्।
Its colour is white and brilliant.
तेजाचा रंग पांढरा असतो व तो तेजस्वी असतो.

उष्णएवस्पर्शः ।
It is always hot.
तेज हे नेहमीच गरम वा उष्ण असते.

४.३: ३९तदपिद्विविधमणुकार्यभावात् ।
It is also of two forms: in the form of atoms and the products.
तेज हे सूक्ष्मरूपात किंवा अतिलहान आकारात व स्थूलरूपात किंवा सहज दिसणाऱ्या स्वरूपात असते.

कार्यम्चशरीरादित्रयम् ।
These products are of three types such as in the form of body and others.
तेजापासून शरीर आदि तीन प्रकारच्या वस्तू बनतात.

४.३: ३९शरीरमयोनिजमादित्यलोके,
The body of fire is such only as is not born of womb, existing in the regions of Sun (Aditya),
तेजापासून बनलेले शरीर हे मातेच्या उदरातून जन्माला येत नाही आणि अशी शरीरे सूर्याच्या आसपासच्या प्रदेशात असतात.

पार्थिवावयवोपष्टम्भाच्चोपभोगसमर्थम् ।
And it is made capable of experience by the admixture of Solid molecules.
तेजाचा अनुभव घेण्यासाठी तेज हे स्थायूद्रव्याबरोबर मिसळलेले असते.

४.३: ३९इन्द्रियम्सर्वप्राणिनाम्रूपव्यंजकमन्यावयवानभिभूतैस्तेजोऽवयवैरारब्धम्चक्षुः ।
The sense organ is the eye which makes the colour perceptible, by all the living beings, and which is made up of the fire molecules unaffected by the molecules of any other substance.
तेज जाणून घेण्यासाठी डोळा हे इंद्रिय मदतकरते आणि तेच रंगांचीही जाणीव करून देते. डोळ्यामध्ये तेजकण सामावलेले गेलेले असून त्यांच्यावर तेजाशिवाय इतर कोणत्याही प्रकारच्या द्रव्याचा परिणाम होत नाही.

४.३: ३९विषयसंज्ञकम्चतुर्विधम् ।
The objects are of four types:
तेजस्वी वस्तू या चार प्रकारच्या असतात:

भौमम्दिव्यमुदर्यमाकरजम्च ।
Earthly fire, Heavenly fire, Stomachic fire and Mineral fire.
पृथ्वीवरील तेज/आग, आकाशातील आग, पोटातली आग व खनिज व धातूंमधील तेज.

तत्रभौमम्काष्ठेन्धनप्रभवमूर्ध्वज्वलनस्वभावम्पचनदहनस्वेदनादिसमर्थम्
The Earthly fire is that which consists of flames produced by wooden fuels and is capable of accomplishing cooking, burning, softening, sweating etc.
मातीशी किंवा पृथ्वीशी संबंधित तेज हे लाकूड इत्यादिंच्या सरपणाच्या जाळण्यातून निर्माण होते आणि त्याद्वारे शिजवणे, जाळणे, मऊ करणे व पाण्याचे बाष्पीभवन करणे या क्रिया साधता येतात.

दिव्यमबिन्धनम्सौरविद्युदादिभुक्तस्य
The Heavenly fire is that which is produced by watery fuel and exists in the form of the Sun, the lightening and the like.
आकाशातले तेज हे प्रवाही अशा इंधनापासून बनते आणि ते ऊन, वीज इत्यादि स्वरूपात असते.

आहारस्यरसादिपरिणामार्थमुदर्यम्
The Stomachic fire is that which brings about the digestion of the food that is eaten.
पोटातले तेज हे आपण खालेल्या अन्नाचे पचन घडवून आणते.

आकरजम्चसुवर्णादि ।
The Mineral fire exists in the form of Gold and other minerals.
खनिजे व धातूंमधले तेज हे सोने इत्यादि तेजस्वी धातूंमध्ये असते.

४.३: ३९तत्रसम्युक्तसमवायाद्रसाद्युपलब्धिरिति ॥
The experience of taste and other properties in these minerals belong to other substances compounded with the fire molecules.
या धातूंची संबंधित चव व इतर अनुभव हे तेजाशी संयोग पावलेल्या इतर द्रव्यांमुळे त्यांना प्राप्त होतात.
